EURid, the registry that manages .eu and .ею (.eu in Cyrillic) have officially launched .ευ (.eu in Greek). This new Greek extension will be used for all .eu Greek IDN domain registrations moving forward.
Registration policies for .ευ are the same as .eu which can be found HERE. Additionally, the script of the domain must match the script of the extension for .eu, .ею and .ευ (for example the domain “abc” will result in abc.eu (the Latin extension). If the domain being registered is in Greek script, the extension will be .ευ).
Registrants who currently own a Greek script domain ending in .eu, will automatically receive the matching .ευ domain. The registrant will own both of these domains for the duration of a three-year “script adjustment” phase to allow registrants to make their new .ευ operational.
This “script adjustment” phase will last until 13 November 2022. During this time, registrants of these domains will be required to pay fees for the domain name under .eu only (they will NOT pay for the .ευ domain until the .eu domain has been phased out).
On 14 November 2022, the domain names in Greek under .eu will be phased out and their equivalent under .ευ will remain registered.
If you own a Greek script domain ending in .eu, Lexsynergy will automatically add the matching .ευ domain to your portfolio by the end of November 2019.
