Why brand owners should embrace a progressive registrar.
At Lexsynergy, we believe in fostering talent, breaking barriers and creating opportunities for those who are eager to make an impact. This year, at ICANN82 in Seattle, we are proud to be represented by none other, than Amanda Shozi, our Junior Brand Protection Assistant and newest member of our online brand protection enforcement team.
What makes Amanda’s journey truly special is that this will be her first time on a plane, and even more remarkably, her first time leaving South Africa! Born and raised in Hibberdene, in KwaZulu Natal, like many South African, Amanda faced significant challenges, including unreliable access to electricity and water. However this did not stop her, as she went on to obtain a Bachelor of Law degree at the University of the Free State and was later invited to become a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. When she joined Lexsynergy last year, we not only welcomed her into our team but also helped her into a better living situation closer to our Johannesburg office, ensuring she had the stability needed to thrive in her career.
Amanda first experienced an ICANN event last year at ICANN81, participating virtually. She found it an invaluable experience, gaining insight into the latest developments of the domain industry. Attending in person at ICANN82 will take this experience to the next level, giving her the opportunity to connect directly with industry leaders, engage in critical discussions and further develop her expertise in domain enforcement and brand protection.
ICANN’s helping hand
Adding to the excitement, Amanda’s travel and accommodation for ICANN82 is fully funded by ICANN through the Registrar Stakeholder Group (RrSG) Travel Funding program. The program aims to support individuals from underrepresented regions who are eager to contribute to policy discussions and industry advancements. Amanda applied for funding and was awarded support within just two weeks, underscoring her dedication and potential in the domain space.
As a funding recipient, Amanda will be attending key RrSG and ICANN policy development sessions, engaging in discussions and learning from some of the most experienced professionals in the industry. She is eager to make the most of this opportunity and we encourage fellow attendees to share insights and collaborate with her during the event.
Meet Amanda at ICANN82 and beyond
Amanda will be in attendance for the full ICANN82 event from March 8-13, 2025. If you are attending, we highly encourage you to connect with her, whether you are new to the industry like her or a seasoned professional. She is not only there to learn but also to build relationships and establish herself as a key player in the domain enforcement space.
Given that this is Amanda’s first time traveling internationally, we would love for her to experience the warm hospitality that the domain industry is known for. If you are hosting an event and have space, we would be incredibly grateful if you could extend an invitation to Amanda, helping her make the most of her time in Seattle.
Join us in supporting future leaders in the domain industry
Amanda’s story is a testament to the power of opportunity, resilience and community. We are incredibly proud of her achievements so far and excited to see her represent Lexsynergy on the global stage.
If you see Amanda at ICANN82, introduce yourself, share insights, and be part of her journey in shaping the future of domain enforcement. She is ready to learn, connect, and contribute. We look forward to supporting her as she continues to make an impact in the industry.
See you in Seattle!
