Eligibility Requirements

To register a .KRD domain name, registrants must meet Criteria A or B as described below:

1. Criteria A – Educational Institutions and Service Providers (edu.krd) To support the mission and purpose of this TLD, the registry has registered the domain edu.krd for educational institutions and service providers. To make an application under Criteria A, the applicant must be an authorized representative of an educational institution or service which: * Operates in the Kurdistan Region; and/or * Teaches, promotes, researches, or records the people, language, culture, or history of the Kurdistan Region Registrants must provide evidence of such qualifications within 14 day after the application for the domain name. The domain name must be directly related to the provision of education activities or services and the control of the domain may not be sold, distributed or transferred to any third party. Qualifying applicants may apply for a domain name at the second level (e.g. domain.krd) or at the third level (e.g. domain.edu.krd).
2. Criteria B – Commercial Entities (co.krd) To support the mission and purpose of this TLD, the registry has registered the domain co.krd for commercial entities. To make an application under Criteria B the applicant must be an authorized representative of a commercial entity which: * Is of good standing in the jurisdiction in which it is registered or licensed; * Holds all required permits, rights and licenses for trademarks, where those trademarks form part of the domain; and * Operates in the Kurdistan Region; and/or * Serves the people, language, culture or history of the Kurdistan Region Registrants must provide evidence of such qualifications within 14 day after the application for the domain name. The domain name must be directly related to the provision of commercial activities or services; and the control of the domain may not be sold, distributed or transferred to any third party. Qualifying applicants may apply for a domain name at the second level (e.g. domain.krd) or at the third level (e.g. domain.co.krd).
3. To make an application under Criteria C, the applicant must agree that the domain name will be used to support the mission and purpose of the TLD. An applicant applying for a domain name under Criteria C may only apply for a domain name in the second level of the TLD (e.g. domain.krd).

General remarks

Reserved domain names

Some domain names are reserved names; these are names which are ineligible for registration due to ICANN restrictions or Registry Operator designation.
