The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®), the impartial professional organization that supports the state boards of pharmacy in protecting public health, is spearheading the .pharmacy initiative. Operated as a verified (or restricted) top-level domain, .pharmacy is the secure and trustworthy destination where consumers around the globe can be sure the medications and information they obtain online are authentic and safe.
What are the benefits my organization can gain from having a .pharmacy domain name?
* distinguish your online pharmacy, product, or service from thousands of rogue online drug sellers
* contribute to the protection of public health by helping consumers find legitimate online pharmacies and pharmacy resources
* enhance your brands by becoming part of an elite group
The .pharmacy domain will let your audience know that your website is legitimate and operating legally and meets standards set by a global coalition that includes International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and NABP.
Types of organizations that may apply:
Pharmacy Benefit Managers
Prescription Drug Information and Pharmacy Referral Sites
Prescription Drug-Related Patient Advocacy and Consumer Education Sites
Medical Professionals’ Offices
Schools or Colleges of Pharmacy
Continuing Pharmacy Education Providers
Wholesale Drug Distributors
Prior to registering a .pharmacy domain name, potential registrants must complete an online application form found at https://nabp.pharmacy/programs/dotpharmacy/apply/, and undergo an annual review of its current operations and proposed use of the .pharmacy domain name. All applicants must have a live and operational website or test website at the time of application review, and make such content available to NABP or its representative for review.
After the applicant submits the online application and supporting documentation to the Registry Operator, pays the applicable fees ($975 per website review) to Registry Operator and accepts Registry Operator’s terms and conditions, including the .pharmacy program refund policy, the request for .pharmacy domain name(s) will be reviewed. Read the policies here.
After Registry Operator determines applicant’s licenses, documentation, and website are compliant and approves the registration of a .pharmacy domain name, Registry Operator will provide the applicant with a token to register the .pharmacy domain name through the Registrar.
Only one registration token will be issued for each .pharmacy domain, there never should be a duplicate registration for the same .pharmacy domain.
Note: Approval tokens expire within 60 days of receipt. If the tokens are not used within 60 days, the approved domain name will return to the pool of available domain names.
Specific domain names designated for NABP member boards of pharmacy and regulatory agencies may be registered for $0 for five years
