.radio is an extension which is exclusively dedicated to radio stations, web radios, radio professionals, companies selling radio goods and services and radio amateurs. The .radio extension is one of the few recognized community-based resources representing the interests of around 65,000 radio stations, 60,000 web radios and others closely associated with the sector.
Eligibility Requirements For All Launch Phases
To register and renew a .radio domain name the registrant must be an individual or a legal entity with a nexus to the .radio community. This nexus means that the registrant must be linked to the community at the time of registration and thereafter. Validation of said nexus will be carried out on a case by case basis by the .radio Registry Operator.
Examples of a valid nexus are, among others, broadcasting livestreams, radio programs related content, individual radio professional activities, radio-related events, radio-related services or equipment provision and diffusion, and any other in which the registrant provides content for the benefit and advancement of the .radio community.
Registrants are required to state the intended use for the registered domain name. A false statement of intended use is an indication of bad faith and may be the basis for the suspension of the domain name.
.radio will launch with a Sunrise Phase and a Limited Registration Period with multiple priority categories. These launch phases will run concurrently and domains will be allocated at the end of the launch phases based on the following priority: Priority 1 - TMCH Sunrise, Priority 2 - Unions of Broadcasters, Priority 3 - Official Radio Operators, Priority 4 - Internet Radios, Priority 5 - Radio Amateurs, Priority 6 - Radio Professionals, Priority 7 - Radio Related Companies and Priority 8 - Landrush.
Companies and brands pay the registration cost listed. Individuals receive a discounted price. If you are registering a .radio as an individual, email email@example.com for the discounted pricing. Individuals are limited to the domains they can register. There are two cases:
1) For the radio professional (owner, host, operator, DJ, radio journalist), the domain must contain the partial or full first name of the registrant and the last name followed by the .radio extension:
