As those in the industry will know only too well, spread betting is heavily regulated by the FCA (financial conduct authority), because of this .spreadbetting domains are only available to regulated businesses. This helps to give spread bettors an added layer of confidence and the knowledge that the spread betting provider is 100% verified as regulated by the FCA.
The following entities are eligible to register domain names in the .spreadbetting TLD:
An entity holding one or more regulatory permissions granted by the UK Financial Conduct Authority in respect of the spread betting space
An entity holding one or more regulatory permissions granted by the Central Bank of Ireland in respect of the spread betting space
If the registrant is an appointed representative or tired agent acting on behalf of a regulated firm, they must provide the relevant information in order to identify themselves as such. An applicant will be asked to provide the authorization number provided by its financial regulator, as relevant to the jurisdiction in which it operates.
An applicant will be asked to identify the regulatory permission(s) that it holds. Such permissions may include (a) introducing (b) advising (c) counterparty to client trades (d) discretionary management (e) dealing as an agent and/or (f) other.
Reserved Domain Names
Some domain names are reserved names; these are names which are ineligible for registration due to ICANN restrictions or Registry Operator designation.
