General remarks

There are no restrictions or local presence required for registering a .РУС domain name; however, the registry does require the following information: The Customer shall provide the registrar or the third party engaged by the registrar, as a minimum, with the following information: (1) personal and/or corporate identification data, (2) proof of identity, (3) contacts so that the Customer could be reached as well as (4) other information and documents the registrar needs to conclude the registration agreement.

Personal identification data include:

• name in full, including the family name (surname) and given name, as well as patronymic unless it derives otherwise from the lex personalis or any national custom;
• date of birth;
• national ID details;
• residential address.

The identifying document for an individual is the national ID or another appropriate proof of identity.

Corporate identification data include:

• corporate name in full, including the form of incorporation, per the charter documents;
• the federal registration number (for Russian residents, Primary State Registration Number, OGRN;
• individual taxpayer number or, for non-Russian residents, an equivalent thereof;
• corporate address per the charter documents.

The identifying document for a corporation is the charter documents (the charter and/or certificate of incorporation), the government registration document and/or the tax registration certificate and/or an excerpt from the public register for body corporates.

Required Contacts include:

• postal address;
• name in full and/or company name of at least one administrative contact and one technical contact;
• postal address for administrative and technical contacts;
• phone numbers for administrative and technical contacts;
• fax numbers, if applicable, for administrative and technical contacts;
• registrant, administrative and technical contacts’ email addresses.

Domain Name Requirements

• domain name ends with .РУС characters;
• domain name begins and ends with a Cyrillic letter or a number;
• intermediate may be Cyrillic characters, numbers or a hyphen; Cyrillic symbols allow UTF-8  characters from "а" (code 0430) to "я" (code 044F) and an auxiliary character "ё" (code 0451).  The full list of UTF­8 symbols may be viewed on: http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0400.pdf;
• domain name is at least two ASCII characters long ­ consists of no less than 3 (three) symbols when translated into Punycode;
• domain name contains a number of characters, which shall ensure that its representation will  not exceed 63 ASCII characters and contains the number of symbols not exceeding 63 when  translated into Punycode;

Reserved domain names

Some domain names are reserved names; these are names which are ineligible for registration due to ICANN restrictions or Registry Operator designation.
