Nominet (the UK registry) will, from 1 May 2012, allow registrants to register domain names for periods ranging from 1 to 10 years.

Until now it has only been possible to register .uk domain names for a 2 year period.

The change will give businesses and consumers the opportunity to lock their domain names for up to 10 years, giving them security of tenure and a longer period between renewals.
