UPDATE: NG WILL GO LIVE ON 16 APRIL 2013 (8:00 LOCAL TIME).

On 7 April 2013 NIRA (.NG registry) announced that it will open up the .NG extension making it possible to register Second Level Domains (SLDs).

Instead of mybrand.com.ng you can now register mybrand.ng.

Due to the short notice we urge all registrants of COM.NG domain names to urgently register the matching .NG domain name. If you have trade marks in Nigeria a .NG registration is recommended.

It is envisaged that .NG will become more popular than the COM.NG extension.

The price is fixed by the registry at £75 or $127.50 or R1125. Lexsynergy is an accredited .NG registrar.

NIRA has classified a selection of domain names as premium value domain names. These premium value domain names will be available only via auction.

The auction procedure still needs to be finalised in the draft NIRA Domain Name Auction Policy.
