About .web.za (South Africa)
Web.za is a second level domain that is being re-launched as an alternative domain name extension for websites targeting South Africa.
Sunrise Period (1 April 2014 - 1 September 2014)
Allocation will occur at the end of the Sunrise Period. If more than one application is received for a domain name it will be resolved via auction.
Fees
Application fee (including a 1 year registration) = £9
Payment can also be made in US$ ($15.3), Euros (€10.44) and South African Rands (R171).
Eligibility
Validation Token (VT) issued by the Mark Validation System (MVS) is required.
It is possible to validate unregistered trade mark rights (such as a company name, trading names or unregistered "common law" trade mark).
The rights to any mark must have existed for at least 12 (twelve) months before 1 April 2014.

The domain must not begin or end with a hyphen and not exceed 63 characters.
Priority of Sunrise Applications
Ranking 1
• Marks which are registered in South Africa.
• Marks validated through a court of law or other judicial proceeding in South Africa.
• Marks protected by a statute or treaty anywhere in the world.
Ranking 2
• Marks which are registered in any jurisdiction outside South Africa.
• Marks validated through a court of law or other judicial proceeding in any jurisdiction outside South Africa.
Ranking 3
• Names of companies, trusts or other juristic entities, business or trading names registered in South Africa.
• Unregistered or “common law” trade marks in South Africa.
Ranking 4
• Names of companies, trusts or other juristic entities, business or trading names registered in any jurisdiction outside South Africa.
• Unregistered or “common law” trade marks in any jurisdiction outside South Africa.
Landrush (1 April 2014 - 1 September 2014)
Domain names will be sold at a premium during this period.

Application fee (including a 3 year registration) = £19
Payment can also be made in US$ ($255), Euros (€174) and South African Rands (R2850).
Auction
In the event that two or more Landrush applications for the same domain name are received, the Registry will hold a closed auction allocating the domain name to the highest bidder.
General Availability Period (to be confirmed)
Registrations are processed on a first come, first served basis.
There are no restrictions.
