On 1 August 2014 the ZA Central Registry (ZACR) will officially replace Internet Solutions as the org.za and net.za registry operator.
Beginning 4 August 2014 at 08h00 (UTC+2) ZACR will re-launch org.za and net.za commencing with Sunrise and Landrush applications, which will run concurrently for both extensions. The Sunrise and Landrush periods will both close 1 September 2014 at 23h59 (UTC+2).
General availability will commence 2 September 2014 at 08h00 (UTC+2).
Org.za Eligibility Criteria
To register a .org.za name, the Registrant must be at least one of the following:
* A South African citizen or resident;
* A South African registered company, partnership, charity, NGO, trade union, political party or religious institution;
* A foreign company licensed to trade in South Africa; or
* An owner of, or an applicant for, a South African registered trademark.
In addition, the Registrant must use the registered name only for non-commercial purposes.
Net.za Eligibility Criteria
To register a .net.za name the Registrant must be at least one of the following:
* An Internet service provider;
* The operator of an Internet exchange point;
* Licensed by The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) to provide communications network services; or
* A provider of communications network services who has been granted a license exemption by ICASA.
In addition, the Registrant must use the registered name for the identification of South African Internet infrastructure.
Sunrise
During the Sunrise trade mark owners that have validated their trade mark via the Mark Validation System (MVS) can apply for the matching domain name before the general public is allowed to do so. The rights to the trade mark must have existed for at least 12 months before the commencement of the re-launch

Landrush
During the Landrush domain names can be applied for at a premium price without restrictions.
Sunrise applications will have priority over Landrush applications.
