Two new “country” gTLDs have recently entered the marketplace - .SWISS and .IRISH. Both of these TLDs present a clearly marked space for individuals and businesses associated with the Swiss and Irish communities.
These TLDs are important registrations for any trademark owners that currently have registrations within the ccTLDs for Ireland (.IE) and Switzerland (.CH). To register a .SWISS domain within any launch phase you must qualify under the following criteria – must be a legal entity (not an individual) with a link to Switzerland. This link can include: A public body or another public organization registered under Swiss public law; a legal entity registered in the Swiss Commercial Register having its seat in Switzerland and an effective site of administration in Switzerland; or an association or foundation not registered in the Swiss Commercial Register having its seat and an effective site of administration in Switzerland.
