The emergence of the Internet and related technologies has had a significant impact on the current intellectual property regime. As a result of the evolving digital landscape, lawyers are left on the frontline grappling with online legal questions with few resources and limited or no precedents.
Lexsynergy, the Kenya ICT Action Network, the Kenya Network Information Centre and the Law Society of Kenya are teaming up for a one-day seminar on 8 September 2017 in Nairobi. This seminar will review the impact of the internet on the IP world. Attendees will be given the tools and knowledge necessary to handle legal IP questions in the digital age. Topics include the developments and interplay between IP law and technology, the regulatory frameworks and mechanisms for dispute resolution, domain name issues such as phishing and cybersquatting, and the strategies and best practices for strengthening their roles and IP protection.
