The new gTLD registry Donuts has acquired the .travel domain extension. This high-quality extension joins a long list of other travel extensions in the Donuts portfolio such as .city, .cruises, .flights, .guide, .holiday, .tours and .vacation.
.travel launched in 2005, almost 10 years before new gTLDs started entering the marketplace. .travel has always been a restricted extension and registrants must have an affiliation with the travel industry. Donuts has not yet announced whether or not these restrictions will remain in place. They have announced that .travel will automatically be included in all DPML blocks starting today. We will share more updates regarding this acquisition as they are announced.
