EURid has announced that all Cyrillic domains with the Latin .eu extension will be phased out (i.e. deleted) on 31 May 2019. These Cyrillic domains will still be active with the Cyrillic .ею extension.
In the announcement, EURid explains their reasoning for the phase-out with the following statement: "The phase-out of Cyrillic domain names with the Latin .eu extension is being done to follow the ‘no script mixing’ best practice for Internationalised Domain Names. The objective of the ‘no script mixing’ best practice is to avoid confusion about domain names that look similar."
Lexsynergy will be contacting all clients with Cyrillic .eu domains to discuss a phase-out plan.
