The .new domain extension launched in October with a Sunrise phase for trademark owners which will run until 14 January 2020. Beginning this month, Googe Registry will also begin accepting applications under the Limited Registration Period (LRP). During the LRP applicants must submit applications for .new domains directly with Google Registry. Applications can be submitted here: https://whats.new/apply
LRP applications will be evaluated in batches, with earlier batches prioritized over later batches with respect to domain allocation. First-come, first-served principles will not apply to applications within a single batch. In the event that multiple applicants in a batch submit compliant applications for a single domain name, the domain name will be allocated to the strongest use case based on evaluation by the Google Registry team.
The batch evaluation dates are as follows:
Batch 1: December 2, 2019 to January 5, 2020
Batch 2: January 6, 2020 to February 2, 2020
Batch 3: February 3, 2020 to March 1, 2020
Batch 4: March 2, 2020 to March 29, 2020
Batch 5: March 30, 2020 to April 26, 2020
Batch 6: April 27, 2020 to May 24, 2020
Batch 7: May 25, 2020 to June 21, 2020
If your application is approved, you will be issued a token. Once you have your token you will be able to register your .new domain through the Lexsynergy portal and will be asked for the token during the checkout process. Alternatively, you may email the token to [email protected] and we will process the registration for you.
If have any questions about the LRP application process, please email [email protected].
