Domains do not last forever. From registration to renewal, decipher the jargon and get a grasp on this pivotal process.
Whether you are a starting a new business, protecting your Intellectual Property, or launching your next big campaign, the perfect Domain Name can make all the difference. However, what happens when the Domain Name you want is already registered?
This is where Domain Backordering comes in: a smart, automated way to acquire domain names the moment they are released by their current owner. At Lexsynergy, we offer a transparent, fixed-fee, no-limit domain backorder service designed to give you the most efficient and cost-effective solution to acquiring previously registered domains.

Domain Backordering is a proactive service that monitors the registration status of domain name that is currently registered to someone else. If that domain is deleted, the backorder system will automatically attempt to re-register it on your behalf the moment it becomes available.
Think of it as an automated queuing system, freeing you from the need to manually monitor the delectation and the rush to compete a manual registration when the domain name becomes available.
To understand a domain, it helps to know the key stages of the domain lifecycle:
The lifecycle begins when a domain is Available for registration. At this point, anyone can register it through an accredited registrar such as Lexsynergy.
Once Registered, the domain is owned by the registrant for the period purchased, typically one year or more. The domain will remain active as long as it is Renewed before the expiration date. If a domain you want is already registered, you can approach the current registrant to purchase. Learn more about this.
If the domain is not renewed by its expiration date, it enters the Expired status. The domain deletion process begins, but can often still be renewed if the registry and registrar allow it.

Here is why domain managers, lawyers, technical staff and marketers use Domain Backorders as part of their digital strategy:
Cost Effective - Unlike auctions or premium aftermarket listings, backordered domains are typically registered at standard registration rates, plus a fixed, transparent fee to cover the monitoring costs.
Popular Generics – Domains that cover an industry (such as coffee.de) or an activity (run.co.uk) are a great way to align your brand to a common term, but are often registered. Backordering gives you the best opportunity to align your brand to internationally recognised terms without paying a premium price.
Strategic Expansion – Backordering ccTLD variants containing your brand name in markets you want to expand into such as .de (Germany), .fr (France), and .co.uk (United Kingdom), or industry-specific extensions such as .law or .tech to build a globally robust portfolio.
SEO & Authority - Capture expired domains with established backlinks and search engine trust, improving your SEO performance.
At Lexsynergy, we believe backordering should be simple, scalable, and risk-free. Here is what makes our approach unique:
Whether you are tracking one name or a thousand, you can place as many backorders as you need, with no volume limits.
As one of the worlds most accredited domain registrars, we support backordering across hundreds of domain extensions.
We monitor your backordered domains 24/7/365 and use high-performance systems to attempt a registration the instant it becomes available.

Backordering a domain with Lexsynergy is quick and easy:
1) Either log in to your Lexysnergy Account or head to our Registration Portal.
2) Search for the domain name you are interested in.
3) If the domain is unavailable, select “Backorder” and complete the process.
4) That is it, we will handle the rest.
5) You will be notified if the domain is successfully registered to your account. If not, your backorder remains active in case the domain is dropped in the future.
Is there a guarantee that I will get the domain I backorder?
No, as multiple backorder services may be targeting the same domain, which could mean missing out of a few milliseconds. However, Lexsynergy’s infrastructure gives you a strong advantage ahead of the competition.
What if the current owner renews during Redemption?
The domain will return to an active status, and the backorder remains in place indefinitely in case the owner lets it bde deleted in the future.
Can someone else see that I placed a backorder?
No. Backorders are private until the domain drops and is registered. Competitors cannot view your queue.
Can I cancel or update a backorder?
Yes. You can manage and cancel your backorders from your dashboard at any time.
What if someone else also backorders the same domain through Lexsynergy?
The backorder is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within Lexsynergy. The earliest request has priority.
Does Lexsynergy participate in expiry auctions?
Our backorder service targets domains that are made available by the Registry. If a domain is held in a pre-release or auction process, backordering will not apply in that context.

Some of the world’s best domain names were once owned, lost and then re-registered by someone else. Backordering gives you a way to reclaim those opportunities, the moment they become available, without playing the guessing game.
Lexsynergy's domain backorder service provides a smart automated route to secure the right domain name the instant it becomes available. With fixed fees, no limits, and no complexity, Domain Backordering is the most cost-effective way to secure domains that are currently registered to someone else.
Many domains enter a Grace Period after expiration, the length of which depends on the registry and registrar. During this phase, the original owner can still renew the domain at the standard cost.
If the domain is not renewed during the Grace Period, it moves into Redemption. This is the final window where the domain can be restored, usually at a higher fee and then renewed by 1 year from the date of expiry. The length of this period also varies depending on the registry and the TLD.
If no action is taken during Redemption, the domain moves to Pending Delete. During this roughly 5-day phase, no changes or renewals can be made, the domain is then locked for deletion.
After the Pending Delete phase, the domain is officially deleted from the registry and becomes available for public registration once more. This is is when backordering system goes to work. Within milliseconds of a Domain Name being released, an automated backorder system such as Lexsynergy’s will kick into place and secure the registration. If the domain contains generic keywords, brand matches or short acronyms, it is virtually impossible to re-register manually as the automated competition is too quick.
